If you are still unsure from the above listed laptop model you can do Internet search with the Laptop model name and “Linux support”
For example, I want to search Linux compatibility for Dell XPS 13 900 I’ll type on the Internet like dell XPS 13 9300 linux support.
If you know any other laptop which is best for Linux then please share with us.
A man with a tech effusive who has explored some of the amazing technology stuff and is exploring more. While moving towards, I had a chance to work on Android development, Linux, AWS, and DevOps with several open-source tools.
I have just ordered a Sytem76……..
Congratulation Nick, by the way, which model you have purchased?
Sorry but Dell is completely out of the question here due to poor build quality, and hardware designed to be thrown away instead of repaired. I cannot speak about current Lenovo laptops and desktops, but those only a few years old (T430S, M92P) are completely hardware compatible with Debian based Linux distros such as Linux SolydK. Lenovo machines that I am familiar with are easy to upgrade and are designed to repaired easily with readily available parts.
Where is Tuxedocomputers? They have machines that are fully compatible with Linux and prices are fair. Check them out @ http://www.tuxedocomputers.com
Thanks for sharing, I’ll append them soon.
I was half expecting the whole list to be System 76 honestly. Not sure why other well known Linux laptop makers aren’t on the list though… StarLabs makes Linux laptops. Pine64 also has a model or two.
Extremely sorry john we didn’t fulfil the expectation, We thought to add 5 laptops Only but as per the feedback, I’ll make a new post in that I’ll cover missing Laptop brands.
Thanks, I really like articles of this kind. I already have ThinkPad but if I could afford it, I want either Purism Librem or Kubuntu Focus, but unfortunately not mentioned above.
LinuxCertified, Inc has been selling Linux laptops since 2000 and they sell laptops with Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOS, RedHat and Mint Linux to name a few
Check them at https://www.linuxcertified.com/linux_laptops.html
Thanks, Anirudh I’ll check it out.
Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective.
A lot of times it’s hard to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and appearance.
I must say you’ve done a very good job with this.
In addition, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Firefox.
Excellent Blog!
That HP’s price range is way more than just “a bit higher.” It’s practically a ripoff given the hardware it has. This looks to be from a reseller that upgraded certain parts (like the WiFi module) and put Linux Mint on it. Definitely not from HP itself since HP doesn’t ship laptops with Linux preinstalled from what I could tell on their website. The only ones HP has with Linux are their workstation desktops.
